The Top Vacation Spots in the World
There are many lists out there describing the top vacation spots around, but it seems that no absolute agreement can be made on the best places to vacation. A contributing factor to this is likely that not all vacationers are looking for the same type of trip. For instance, a single person may be searching for the perfect place to go backpacking while a family may be looking for entertainment suitable for small children. The following list of top vacation spots is an attempt to accommodate the vacation needs of all types of travelers. Let’s take a look…
Singles/Adventurous Vacation Spots
Ibiza, Spain is undoubtedly one of the leading hot spots for singles in the world. Those looking to party it up during their time away from home can do so in the exotic atmosphere of the sandy white beaches teeming with cultural diversity. The night life in Ibiza is also world-renown for its parties, clubs, and bars. Even the most uptight and stressed out individual can’t resist letting their hair down on this fantastic island.
The Hawaiian Islands has plenty to appeal to the adventurous of heart. With sky diving, cliff jumping, surfing, helicopter rides, scuba excursions, hiking along a volcano, and so much more, one could lose themselves in the beauty and exploration that Hawaii has to offer. The great thing about Hawaii is that one doesn’t have to be in search for an action-packed vacation to enjoy themselves here. Once the journey for excitement has been satisfied, one can always relax in a beach house or resort, tour the shops and local museums, or hang out with the locals.
Orlando, Florida has to be one of the most family-friendly places to visit. There is the obvious advantage of Walt Disney World, which in itself makes a wonderful vacation oasis. In fact, many people find that a few weeks in Disney World isn’t enough to see and do everything that this place has to offer. But don’t feel limited to the Disney thing—Orlando has plenty more to offer. There’s Universal Studios, a terrific movie-themed park where people of all ages can immerse themselves in the world of their favorite movies, such as Harry Potter, Shrek, Dr. Seuss, E.T., The Simpsons, The Mummy, Jaws, and many more! There are plenty of rides that cater to people of all ages, as well as excellent places to grab a meal, and even water areas where the kids can exhaust themselves and the parents can soak up some sun. If a theme park is simply not what one is looking for, try visiting the zoological park, one of the many art museums, Cirque du Soleil, the Kennedy Space Center, the Titanic Experience, or Gatorland. There is also the lure of Cocoa Beach, which is about an hour’s drive from Orlando.
London, England is another top pick for most families. Not only is there the added benefit of the country speaking English (often a perk for children), but the diversity that this multi-cultural capital city has to offer will make the experience much more memorable. Plus, kids already have a little knowledge of this historical city programmed into their brains by movies like Mary Poppins, Harry Potter, 101 Dalmatians, and Oliver Twist, and seeing the city in real life can be a very special treat. There are loads of interesting museums, street markets, parks, and gardens to visit. London is also known for showcasing some of the best plays in the world, which can be immensely entertaining for children! Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace (don’t miss the changing of the guard), shopping at Oxford Street, the Tower of London, London Bridge, the Houses of Parliament (and Big Ben), and the London Eye are just a few of the historical and mesmerizing places the family can visit!
Venice, Italy is considered by many to be one of the most romantic getaways for a couple looking for a beautiful, slightly exotic, and quiet place to relax. The streets are largely void of traffic, there are plenty of quaint places to shop and eat, and the architecture and history of the city sets a terrific backdrop for romance. This is definitely the place to go if one is searching for a quiet but timeless experience, where the hustle and bustle of city life is non-existent.
New Orleans, Louisiana is often overlooked as a one of the top vacation spots, but when it comes to romance, this one definitely makes the list. Not only is it fairly easy to travel to, but there are plenty of great places for couples to reignite that “love flame”. The smooth and laid-back atmosphere of this historical southern city is non-intrusive but quietly exciting. It encourages a lazy enjoyment of activities such as a ferry ride down the Mississippi River, enjoying a glass of wine while listening to live jazz or blues music, and dining at a variety of culturally-unique restaurants.
